In this issue of the Journal of Civil Defense, civil defense experts teach how to stay safe in a riot, why riots happen in the first place, and what you can do to protect yourself and your family. It also gives in depth guidelines on choosing and purchasing a handgun for personal protection and even how to properly and safely use the weapon. Articles in this issue also include information on how to survive an active shooter incident, natural disasters, and one of our favorites – America Is Good!

Rep. Christ Stewart of Utah discusses our freedoms and liberties and how “our country has been the greatest force for good the world has ever seen”. He admonishes that we should not give in to tribalism. We should unite despite our differences. “All of us, therefore, must choose”, he says, “Do we swear allegiance to a nation that is flawed but getting better? Or do we give in to tribalism, even while knowing that division and oppression have always left people destitute and disappointed?

I choose to defend the goodness of America.”
